Lastly, one option that few people remember is the evil wizard Gargamel. Simply get some black or purple robes, tie them with a rope, and style your hair like the old evil wizard.
Gargamel has black hair, but has a bald spot. Out of all of the characters that are features in the Smurfs movie, he’s one of the easiest to dress up as. After all, there is no blue paint to apply.
Because of the very communal nature of the Smurfs, this is an excellent choice for large groups of friends who want to have a matching theme to their party.

Batman Costumes
Batman is one of the most iconic and beloved superheroes of the golden age of comics. Unlike Superman or Spiderman, Batman didn’t have any extraordinary powers to give him the advantage over evildoers. He wasn’t faster than a speeding bullet or able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, nor did he have a spider-sense to warn him of approaching danger or give him superhuman speed, quickness and strength. All he had were his wits, his martial arts training, and his wonderful, wonderful toys.

Of course Batman then wasn’t exactly what we know of as Batman now. And batman costumes reflect as much, since the character himself has become darker and more variable both in how he acts and what he represents. “Chaotic good” is still his modus operandi, but batman ends up being true neutral in situations more than he once did.

You can see this in Frank Miller’s re-imagining of Batman in his epic 1980s comic book series “The Dark Knight.” Batman’s motives hadn’t changed, but his internal foundations had, and even the batman costumes he wore had a darker and more sinister look. The Dark Knight was truly dark, a man of contradictions and moral ambiguities who, with each passing chapter became even less the traditional superhero and more something entirely new and unexpected. This contrast and depth of character is what made The Dark Knight such a smash hit in the first place, and the batman costumes that came out of that series’ success reflect the change.

Of course, a few very powerful and successful movies also came out of that series’ success, the first of which was Tim Burton’s 1989 masterpiece “Batman.” In it, the batman costumes such as Batman’s own suit, as well as the costumes of the Joker and other characers, all mirrored what Miller had imagined in his graphic novel. As more sequels were made, the batman costumes strayed further and further from the source material to eventually become a parody of what it once was. The nadir was Joel Schumacher’s 1997 travesty, “Batman and Robin”, which is considered by many to be one of the worst films ever made. And rightly so.

The franchise was rehabilitated starting in 2005 with Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, and followed by the 2008 film The Dark Knight. Critics weren’t exactly enamored of these films – and to be honest they don’t even compare to Burton’s original effort – but they’re a significant step up from what Schumacher provided.
Alice in Wonderland Costumes

Alice In Wonderland remains not only my favorite Disney film, but one of my favorite pieces of satire in the history of English language literature. And it’s not just me – millions appreciate Lewis Carroll’s masterwork to be a true triumph of both art and subversion, and it remains as popular with kids and adults today as it was a century ago.

You can easily have the Alice in Wonderland theme in your Halloween party. Whether you want to dress up like Alice herself, or the Queen of Hearts, or the always-popular Cheshire Cat, or the hooka-smoking caterpillar, you have a litany of choices that no other story can provide.
Personally I think the best of the Alice Wonderland costumes is the Dormouse. He’s the forgotten one at Alice’s tea party, which features The Mad Hatter, The March Hare, Alice and the forgotten Dormouse. He’s a small, nearly silent, drunk. It’s the perfect role to play at a Halloween party if you’re so inclined, and easy costume to do, and if you can convince your other friends to go as the other characters, more’s the better. As in the film and book, you can even have someone go as the table (which itself was alive in Carroll’s story.)

The fun part about Alice In Wonderland costume is that they can work as subversion on several levels, the first being that which Carroll originally intended. But it’s also worth remember that Alice In Wonderland herself is now a symbol of purity and innocence in a culture gone awry with sexuality; thus, “Sexy Alice In Wonderland” or Enchanting Queen of Hearts is a very popular costume today for young women. There’s something absolutely delightful about making something as wholesome as a Disney cartoon into an exhibition for the very basest of impulses which Walt Disney himself abhorred. One suspects that Carroll would approve of the decision.

Of course, the other characters are even more fun. The Mad Hatter is probably the best of the Alice Wonderland costumes because he’s so recognizable and fun. Remember the riddle he poses to Alice, “Why is a raven like a writing desk?” It’s meant to be unsolveable, and if you’re really willing to get into character and give it a go you can just talk gibberish all night and win plaudits for it.
